Western Romances Rule!

Since beginning work on Under A Calico Moon, which is the sequel/companion book to New Prints in Old Calico, I've really re-discovered my love of the era. Now I realize that what I'm writing is a bit more of a 'romanticized' version of reality, but heck, isn't that what I'm supposed to do? Manly men who love and protect their womanfolk with every breath in their bodies, and women who love their men just as much. And what's wrong with a handsome cowboy rushing to the rescue anyway? Not a darn thing.

The other night an old western came on, that I hadn't seen in years. Pale Rider, which stars Clint Eastwood. Granted, it's not your typical western romance, but it sure has a lot of action! I ended up staying up until 2 am to finish it, which is completely unlike me. I'm an 'in bed, lights out by 11:30' kinda gal. If I even make it to 11:30! So while I was watching the movie, an idea for another novella came to me, and I quickly plotted it out, using the beginnings of an old story I found on an old computer of mine. It's not a long story, should come in around 20k or so for word count, but I like it so far.

I'm calling it Wyoming Wild. I was hoping to have it finished by March 19, because I've got a great Bookbub promotion started that day for New Prints in Old Calico, but unfortunately, it's very doubtful it will be ready on time. It won't be long though. I haven't written the tagline or blurb yet, but it's going to sound something like: "After Cora's husband abandons her and their infant child in the wilds of Wyoming, she wonders if she'll be able to cope, much less ever find love again."

That's all I have so far, and I kind of like it. I think I might keep it.

Now Available!

HIDE AND SPOOK is now available for ordering!

Hide and Spook, my deliciously fun contemporary romance is out today! You can find it easily through these direct links.

Amazon: goo.gl/q3vRtZ Kobo: goo.gl/MfV02Z Apple: goo.gl/4uw4DY

Paranormal investigator Carlie Barnes is no stranger to ghosts and spirits. She finds it’s the living that cause the most trouble. Like the guy in the condo upstairs, who’d rather walk on glass than admit she might be right. She’d like to cross him off her list as just another uptight yuppie, but she can’t. He’s hired her to investigate an old federal bunker. Try as she might, she simply can’t ignore his sexy blue eyes that threaten to send her libido into a tailspin and her panties into a bunch.

Michael Denton is a scientist. He believes in what he can see, touch, and feel. And he doesn’t want to feel anything about Carlie Barnes. As far as he’s concerned, she’s a con artist who preys on people's fears and bilks them out of their hard earned money to satisfy those fears. So why does she makes his pulse race and his palms sweat by just being in the same room?

Science dictates that opposites attract, and when they do, fighting the inevitable is just as difficult as believing in ghosts and hotter than a beaker above a Bunsen burner.

This is one of my all time favorite contemporaries to write. As a paranormal investigator myself, I was able to incorporate some of the things I've seen and heard from my own experiences. I can honestly say I've never seen a man made from sand, but dang, would that ever be cool if I did!  Carlie is fun and full of surprises, and Michael may be a bit nerdy, but he knows what he wants: Carlie in his bed. Watching these two come together (no pun intended!) was an experience in itself.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it.

Please also note I have a new sign up box on the right for my newsletter list. I promise not to spam you, but I'll definitely keep you up to date on the latest news, contests and giveaways.

I'm off to work on a new WIP. Tell you all about it in a few days.

Read on!

2017 Events and Appearances

Being ill so early in the year, I'm a little behind on organizing my schedule for the year, but I am getting there.  I had that nasty flu that was going around and just completed my second round of antibiotics, but I'm feeling so much better. Time to think of what I'd like to be doing this year now!

I've just registered for LitCon and hope to be a panelist as well because let's face it, I love to talk about writing. Or I just love to talk.  Litcon is in Moosejaw, SK on April 22, 2017.
Other dates are:

August 11-13- When Words Collide, Calgary AB
September 23 - Word on the Street, Lethbridge, AB

Hoping to add a few more dates, especially through the summer months.
Drop me an email at authorellielynn@gmail.com if you would like me to come to your event.

Til next time,

Kobo Sale!

Right now, two of my books are on sale at Kobo for 30% off! Officially at  https://www.kobo.com/p/30jan  you can find my books in the romance section at Breathtaking Romance using Promo code: 30JAN  .

Right now, Signed Sealed and Delivered is on page 5, and Rebel Heart is on page 6, but those pages change as sales go up or--heaven forbid--down! The sale goes until January 23, so lots of time to check it out yet.

There is also a 50% off sale for Rebel Heart going on at Smashwords right now, as well. This one goes until January 26. Use coupon code AB75W at Smashwords .

On January 26, New Prints In Old Calico goes on promotion at Kobo UK for their 200 under £2 event.

So much going on, and I am anticipating another promotion in February, but I'll keep you updated on that as I hear more.

Exciting times in the Lynn household!  I'm almost finished the first draft of Hide 'n Spook, which means onto the second draft. Since I'm an editing maniac, there isn't a lot to do on the second or third pass, except for fleshing out a few scenes here and there.

The other thing I'm working on is finishing the plotting for Calico 2 (my so far un-named sequel to New Prints in Old Calico), and I am starting to put together the characters who will be in my new contemporary romance series, set in my new home town of Climax, Sk. Seriously, can you imagine the shenanigans that could (and do) go on in a small town called Climax? Oooo, could be some great fun!  Stay tuned, I'm going to ask for help naming the series soon!

Til next time,

A New Me

No, I didn't have surgery to change anything about me, but if you've noticed, I've made a decision to change my pen name going forward. A huge decision, since I've been Jennifer Lynn for the last 25 years of my writing career.

Lately, I've had numerous people email me, and it's not me they're looking for. You see, there's a couple other Jennifer Lynn's who've started publishing as well, and one of them publishes a genre that I'm not entirely comfortable with. Now I'm not disparaging that author's chosen genre, but it's definitely not something I write. I've tried to have my books 'unlinked' from hers but Amazon's (et al) automated search will not recognize the difference in authors. Anyone looking for my work has to wade through pages and pages of these other Jennifer Lynn's.  And I doubt this is going to change anytime soon, if ever at all.

So while talking to a friend of mine, who happens to be an author as well, we both agreed that perhaps it was time.  When my next work comes out, which is my Carlie Barnes story (tentatively called Hide 'n Spook) it'll be under my brand new me.

And since my brand new me has moved to a wonderful little town called Climax (isn't that a fantastic place for a romance writer to be from?), what better time than to start anew?

'Til next time,

Ellie
