New Release! A Cowboy's Promise

I am so excited to share A Cowboy's Promise, which is now available and working its way through the online stores as we speak! I've really struggled in the last few months, what with work and stuff. Finding the time has been my biggest issue, but once things started moving again, it moved fast! So coming VERY soon, to a store near you. I'll update the book page with buy links once I've got them all.

Here's the blurb:

Sarah has been struggling to maintain her ranch on her own since the death of her husband. Despite her fierce determination, she's overwhelmed with the daily tasks necessary to keep the ranch running smoothly. Enter Casey Reed, a tall and rugged cowboy with a mysterious past. At first, Sarah is wary of him, but as they work side by side, a deep friendship develops. Sarah finds solace in opening up to Casey about her struggles, and he proves to be a loyal companion.

Casey himself is guarded, but as he spends more time with Sarah, he begins to let his guard down. They share stories of their pasts and their dreams for the future. As they grow closer, they begin to feel something more than friendship.

However, running a ranch is no easy feat. While Casey deals with the demons from his past, Sarah struggles to keep her ranch out of the hands of a ruthless landowner.   Just when they think they're finally clear of all their obstacles, a lawman from Texas shows up looking for Casey. Will their love be torn apart or will they find a way to keep it together once and for all?

New Work In Progress!

So, you probably might have noticed, but I haven't written anything new in a while. Quite a while. It's been tough, what with the pandemic going on, etc. I'm a nurse in my other life so I got really burned out. Sitting in front of a computer was the last thing I wanted to do when I got home.

Now that COVID is essentially behind us (yes, I know it's never going to be completely gone, but let me have my delusion), I've had a chance to take care of ME for a change. I'm eating better, getting more sleep, and getting a wee bit more exercise too! This summer, I'm spending more time in the garden, and playing with my pooches. And then it happened.

In the last few weeks, my eyes have been drawn to some of my old research books, notes and photos. That itch, that spark that had faded into what I thought was oblivion, has reignited.

I am excited to report that I've written 8 chapters of my next historical western romance and I'm still going strong! It's set in Wyoming, and tentatively called A Cowboy's Promise. I even have artwork ready to go. I'm really very pleased and excited.

If all goes well, I'll have it finished in the next month, and ready for release by fall.

I'll keep you posted!

Until next time,

Western Romances Rule!

Since beginning work on Under A Calico Moon, which is the sequel/companion book to New Prints in Old Calico, I've really re-discovered my love of the era. Now I realize that what I'm writing is a bit more of a 'romanticized' version of reality, but heck, isn't that what I'm supposed to do? Manly men who love and protect their womanfolk with every breath in their bodies, and women who love their men just as much. And what's wrong with a handsome cowboy rushing to the rescue anyway? Not a darn thing.

The other night an old western came on, that I hadn't seen in years. Pale Rider, which stars Clint Eastwood. Granted, it's not your typical western romance, but it sure has a lot of action! I ended up staying up until 2 am to finish it, which is completely unlike me. I'm an 'in bed, lights out by 11:30' kinda gal. If I even make it to 11:30! So while I was watching the movie, an idea for another novella came to me, and I quickly plotted it out, using the beginnings of an old story I found on an old computer of mine. It's not a long story, should come in around 20k or so for word count, but I like it so far.

I'm calling it Wyoming Wild. I was hoping to have it finished by March 19, because I've got a great Bookbub promotion started that day for New Prints in Old Calico, but unfortunately, it's very doubtful it will be ready on time. It won't be long though. I haven't written the tagline or blurb yet, but it's going to sound something like: "After Cora's husband abandons her and their infant child in the wilds of Wyoming, she wonders if she'll be able to cope, much less ever find love again."

That's all I have so far, and I kind of like it. I think I might keep it.

Paranormal investigator Carlie Barnes is no stranger to ghosts and spirits. She finds it’s the living that cause the most trouble. Like the guy in the condo upstairs, who’d rather walk on glass than admit she might be right. She’d like to cross him off her list as just another uptight yuppie, but she can’t. He’s hired her to investigate an old federal bunker. Try as she might, she simply can’t ignore his sexy blue eyes that threaten to send her libido into a tailspin and her panties into a bunch.

Michael Denton is a scientist. He believes in what he can see, touch, and feel. And he doesn’t want to feel anything about Carlie Barnes. As far as he’s concerned, she’s a con artist who preys on people's fears and bilks them out of their hard earned money to satisfy those fears. So why does she makes his pulse race and his palms sweat by just being in the same room?

Science dictates that opposites attract, and when they do, fighting the inevitable is just as difficult as believing in ghosts and hotter than a beaker above a Bunsen burner.

This is one of my all time favorite contemporaries to write. As a paranormal investigator myself, I was able to incorporate some of the things I've seen and heard from my own experiences. I can honestly say I've never seen a man made from sand, but dang, would that ever be cool if I did!  Carlie is fun and full of surprises, and Michael may be a bit nerdy, but he knows what he wants: Carlie in his bed. Watching these two come together (no pun intended!) was an experience in itself.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it.

Please also note I have a new sign up box on the right for my newsletter list. I promise not to spam you, but I'll definitely keep you up to date on the latest news, contests and giveaways.

I'm off to work on a new WIP. Tell you all about it in a few days.

Read on!
